Christmas is never a good time to get a new puppy, especially when children are around. There are too many other things demanding the owner's attention which make it difficult for the puppy to settle and be properly cared for at this time of the year. Spring and early summer have the advantage of nice weather and make house-training easier.

When you decide to have a puppy, it should be at least eight weeks old. To have a puppy in the house is similar to have a new baby, as it requires regular food, play, sleep and training.
